Barbie Doll

 The Barbie doll was invented in 1959 by Ruth Handler, the co-founder of Mattel.
Barbie was named after Ruth’s daughter Barbara and the Ken doll, Barbie’s boyfriend was introduced in 1961, was named after her son, Kenneth.
The full name of the doll is Barbie Millicent Roberts from Willows, Wisconsin. The doll has over 125 careers.

Barbie was introduced at the American Toy Fair in New York City. Barbie’s job was a teenage fashion doll. Mrs. Handler designed Barbie’s clothing line and eventually over 70 fashion designers have made clothes for Mattel.
Barbie dolls and accessories inventory is constantly changing.
